If you are planning to get married in Michigan, one of your biggest decisions will be the location. Whether you prefer an indoor or outdoor setting, Michigan has many opportunities available to you for your wedding.

Known as The Great Lakes State due to its location on four of the five Great Lakes, Michigan has many sites for a beach wedding. Whether you prefer a casual or formal wedding, you can get married directly on the beach. Petoskey, Grand Haven, and South Haven are just a few of the towns to consider along Lake Michigan.

Wine lovers should consider getting married at the Ciccone Vineyard & Winery in Suttons Bay, on the Leelanau Peninsula. From May through October, the winery's barn and land are available for special events. Pets are even allowed with prior approval from the winery. Barn rental includes the use of the sound system and bar. There are no restrooms available, so you will be required to rent one portable restroom for every 50 guests. Wines must be selected in advance, and by law, they must be Ciccone wines.

For a true Las Vegas-style wedding, look no further than the MGM Grand Detroit. You can have both the ceremony and the reception here, and since it's a hotel, lodging for you and your guests is available onsite. This casino has a grand ballroom that seats up to 800 guests, and the event specialists can help you with every detail as you plan your special day. The reception package includes a four-hour hosted bar, gourmet food, and a custom-designed wedding cake. Dessert upgrade options include dessert tables and a bananas foster station.

If you prefer a wedding chapel, consider the Frankenmuth Wedding Chapel in Frankenmuth. You can choose from their list of special features, opt for one of four ceremony packages, or customize your wedding with the help of their coordinator. Photography packages are available from their in-house studio for an additional fee; outside photographers are prohibited. The chapel can accommodate up to 50 guests.

For the ultimate romantic wedding, many couples choose the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. The Grand Hotel makes wedding planning easy and convenient by offering many options and having many vendors located onsite. There are several spaces for rent in both indoor and outdoor venues. Salon and spa services are available, and the hotel even has an in-house orchestra. Your reception will include gourmet meals and decadent desserts.

For a spectacular outdoor setting, Tahquamenon Falls State Park is hard to beat. Located near Paradise, this setting in the Upper Peninsula makes a truly unforgettable venue for your special day. The Upper Falls is one of the largest waterfalls located east of the Mississippi River; the Lower Falls is actually a series of five smaller waterfalls that cascade around an island. The park is open all year, and leashed pets are allowed. Each entering vehicle must display a permit, which is available for purchase at the entrance to any state park.

If you're planning a wedding in Michigan, there are many options available to you for the ceremony venue. The hardest part is going to be choosing just one!
