Once a couple decides to get married, they are faced with a hundred decisions about the wedding itself. Do they want a big, showy wedding? Alternatively, will a small intimate ceremony with a few friends be more to their liking? Should they marry in a church, or would they prefer another location? Deciding on a location to serve as a backdrop for the exchange of vows is one of the more important decisions they must make together. Indiana boasts several sites for weddings that are very charming.

Amish Acres at Nappanee; this beautiful farm was once the home of the first Amish family to settle in Indiana. The 125-year-old farm is the only Amish farm listed in the National Registry of Historic Places. The 80-acre farm provides a peaceful background for a wedding. The Amish Acres features an authentic Amish farmhouse, a one-room schoolhouse and a theater.

Those who like a little more luxury might prefer to investigate the facilities available at Deer Park Manor in Bloomington. The courtyard features a beautiful fountain and a scrolled iron balcony that is part of the original building. The staff includes event coordinators and florists who can help the couple plan a perfect wedding. The website for Deer Park Manor includes a sample contract and a complete list of prices. The facility even has a contract with Perfect Parties to make renting additional tables and other items convenient.

Brides who live near Indianapolis may want to consider having their wedding at the Indianapolis Zoo. The zoo offers a wedding package that allows couples to hold their ceremony on the grounds of White River Gardens and their reception at the Dolphin Adventure Gallery or the Hulman Riverhouse. Another option at the zoo is to have both the ceremony and the reception at the glass-enclosed Hilbert Conservatory. The zoo's website offers complete details about the options and the cost of having a wedding at the zoo.

Couples who live in Southern Indiana should take the virtual tour offered on the Lakeside Reflections website. The facilities there include a gazebo lakeside for outdoor weddings and three different rooms indoors that can accommodate up to 500 guests. The facilities at Lakeside Reflections are located in Jeffersonville but are close to Louisville Kentucky and the Interstate. The management at Lakeside Reflections also prides itself on being able to provide complete service for the wedding party.

Other places that provide wedding services include the Garden Chapel wedding chapel in Greenfield Indiana. The 100-year-old chapel is a beautiful combination of features you might expect in a grand cathedral and the charm of a small country church. The 19th century chapel has served the community of Greenfield for a century.

Indiana has many beautiful venues for weddings. Every major city has lovely old churches of all denominations. There are also specialty venues like those listed above for the couple who is looking for an alternate site to exchange their vows. Each location in the Hoosier state is as unique as the couples who choose them for the site of their weddings.
