Rachel McAdams is an acting powerhouse who hails from Ontario, Canada. She became a household name after her 2004 performances in The Notebook and Mean Girls, and has since packed theaters with hits like Wedding Crashers and Sherlock Holmes. If you want to witness McAdams' rising star, and enjoy a fantastic flick to boot, check out any or all of these films starring the lovely actress.

The Notebook (2004)

McAdams' role as Allison Hamilton is one of the most beloved romantic characters in several decades. Her on-screen chemistry with one-time boyfriend Ryan Gosling is rivaled only by a few classic film couples. As a girl from the right side of the tracks, Allie Hamilton thought that she had the world at her feet. Then, after meeting a young man named Noah Calhoun (Gosling), McAdams' character finally realizes that there is one thing that has been missing - love. What follows is a romance for the ages, in a film that warms your heart, wets your lashes, and makes you believe in love again.

Mean Girls (2004)

If you like cult classic high school flicks like Heathers and Clueless, then you will dig Mean Girls. Miss McAdams gets to show her comedic and dramatic teeth (more like fangs) for her Mean Girls role. McAdams plays Regina George, a thin, leggy, blond who is leader of her high school's "it" girl clique called The Plastics. When a new girl named Cady (Lindsay Lohan) transfers to the Regina's school, her reign as Queen Bee is challenged, and a battle for top dog at North Shore High School begins.

The Family Stone (2005)

For the Stone's, Christmas is the season of togetherness and family, or at least the family coming together to harass a potentially new member of the clan. When McAdams' character's brother Everett (Dermot Mulroney) brings his girlfriend Meredith (Sarah Jessica Parker) home to meet his family over the holidays, the Stone's immediately recognize that she is not the best match for golden boy Everett, or for the family in general. As Meredith fights to win the family's approval, it seems that the fates are working against her, and more importantly, so is McAdams' character Amy Stone.

Wedding Crashers (2005)

For this blockbuster comedy, McAdams plays Claire Cleary, daughter of U.S. Treasury Secretary William Cleary (Christopher Walken), and love interest of John Beckwith (Owen Wilson). John and his lifelong friend and co-bachelor Jeremy Grey (Vince Vaughn) crash weddings to mean girls. During the final crash of the wedding season, the unexpected happens, and John falls for McAdams' character who is in a long-term relationship. Through a series of hysterical events, John proves that he will do anything to be with Claire. In the end, Claire must decide to follow her heart, or muddle through life by doing what is expected of her.

Sherlock Holmes (2009)

Ticket sales from this smashing success helped make the Christmas 2009 weekend the biggest weekend box office in film history. Sherlock Holmes features McAdams as Irene Adler, who is not only beautiful, but also the only woman who has ever been able to outwit Holmes (Robert Downey, Jr.). Adler hires Holmes and his assistant Watson (Jude Law) to solve a case, but decides to omit her true motives from the case details she gives to Holmes.
