The blue and red lights flash from behind while the driver's checkbook balance flashes before their eyes. An officer sidles up next to the car, hand on gun and demands to see license and registration. The manner in which the driver addresses the officer can determine which way the Officer's discretion is swayed. Having a clean driving record before a traffic stop can also work in a driver's favor as a police officer is more likely to issue a ticket if a motorist already has points on their license for similar offenses.

In 2004, Massachusetts became the first state in America to allow same-sex marriage. Although it was proposed and struck down in a number of other states since then, it is currently only legal in six states: Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Iowa, and Connecticut. Many of the remaining states have put amendments onto their state constitutions to ban same-sex marriage.

Animal testing is the use of animals in scientific experiments. Animal testing is typically done by universities, pharmaceutical companies, and hospital medical centers. Most animals used for research are breed for the specific purpose of testing, and few animals used for testing are captured from the wild. Some animal testing is done for basic research such as behavioural studies and genetics while other animal testing is done for the benefit of humans. This research includes drug testing, surgical procedures, medical equipment, and somewhat inconsequential applications like; cosmetics, and other household products. Most animals that are used for research are euthanized once the experiment is finished.

The gun control debate may be one of the most heated issues of our time. Gun control activists and pro-gun advocates are extremely passionate about their causes. This can sometimes make it difficult to approach the issue reasonably.

The argument over the pros and cons of labor unions has been a popular platform for political parties since the unionization boom that occurred during the progressive era of the 1920’s. While the nature and use of unions has changed dramatically since the earliest inceptions of collective bargaining and fighting for safety in the workplace, there is still an incredible amount of differing opinion for and against these workers’ organizations.

"To execute or not to execute," should this even be a question? The death penalty debate is one of the most long-lasting, impassioned debates in politics. Some subscribe to the "eye for an eye" philosophy, while others believe that state sanctioned death is wrong. These are the reasons why the death penalty should be abolished, in favor of life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The African American population continues to soar annually forming a larger minority compared to other races living in the US. Today, it is estimated that the Afro-American minority forms 12.38% of the entire US population excluding other races with African heritage such as the Non-Hispanic Black and Black Hispanic. But not all places in the US are suitable for a sound African American. There are things to consider such racism, equal opportunity of employment, and education among other factors before any black race can ever succeed. This article will focus on the best places for African Americans to live within the bosom of US.

A survey conducted recently by the Pew Research Center found that Denver, Colorado was the top city in which Americans said they would live if they had the choice. Detroit, Cleveland, and Cincinnati were at the bottom of a list of thirty cities, all large metropolitan areas. In the survey, participants were asked to rank as places they would or wouldn't like to live.
