The blue and red lights flash from behind while the driver's checkbook balance flashes before their eyes. An officer sidles up next to the car, hand on gun and demands to see license and registration. The manner in which the driver addresses the officer can determine which way the Officer's discretion is swayed. Having a clean driving record before a traffic stop can also work in a driver's favor as a police officer is more likely to issue a ticket if a motorist already has points on their license for similar offenses.

In 2004, Massachusetts became the first state in America to allow same-sex marriage. Although it was proposed and struck down in a number of other states since then, it is currently only legal in six states: Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Iowa, and Connecticut. Many of the remaining states have put amendments onto their state constitutions to ban same-sex marriage.

Animal testing is the use of animals in scientific experiments. Animal testing is typically done by universities, pharmaceutical companies, and hospital medical centers. Most animals used for research are breed for the specific purpose of testing, and few animals used for testing are captured from the wild. Some animal testing is done for basic research such as behavioural studies and genetics while other animal testing is done for the benefit of humans. This research includes drug testing, surgical procedures, medical equipment, and somewhat inconsequential applications like; cosmetics, and other household products. Most animals that are used for research are euthanized once the experiment is finished.

Today, it is estimated that the Afro-American minority forms 12.38% of the entire US population excluding other races with African heritage such as the Non-Hispanic Black and Black Hispanic. But not all places in the US are suitable for a sound African American. A survey conducted recently by the Pew Research Center found that Denver, Colorado was the top city in which Americans said they would live if they had the choice. Detroit, Cleveland, and Cincinnati were at the bottom of a list of thirty cities, all large metropolitan areas. In the survey, participants were asked to rank as places they would or wouldn't like to live.
