Kate Winslet is said to be the greatest English-speaking actress of her generation, and her incredible body of work truly solidifies that claim. From her Academy Award-winning performance in The Reader, to her portrayal of Princess Sarah in A Kid in King Arthur’s Court, Winslet always makes a statement on screen. Her flawless acting skills, and flawless looks make her a force to be reckoned with on the big screen. If you are a Kate fan, or if you are just in the market for a great film, then check out this list of five of Winslet's best films.

Revolutionary Road (2008)

For Winslet's work in Revolutionary Road she earned a Golden Globe statue. In the film, Winslet plays April Wheeler, a woman who gave up her dreams of becoming an actress in order to be a mother to her two children, and a wife to her husband Frank (Leonardo DiCaprio). While it appears that the couple is living the dream of a suburban life in the 1950's, the Wheelers are not happy. April longs for an exciting life, and Frank wants to find his life's passion.

In a desperate attempt to change their stars, April convinces Frank to move their family to Paris - the city that Frank loves most. Winslet's character will get a job as a secretary, while Frank will take time to find passion and meaning for his life. Just as their grand plan begins to flourish, the Wheelers' world is shaken up. April begins to see her dream crumble before her, and becomes determined to do whatever it takes to break from her mundane existence.

The Reader (2008)

This critically acclaimed film opens in Berlin in 1995, as a young man named Michael Berg inwardly reflects on a summer love affair he experienced when he was just fifteen. The affair between Berg, and Winslet's character Hanna Schmitz - who was thirty-six at the time the affair began - consists of an education in lovemaking, and an education in literature, as Hanna requests that Michael read to her each time they meet.

Ten years later, Michael sees Hanna again when he is a law student, and she is one of six women (all former Nazi SS guards) on trial for war crimes. Winslet's character had never revealed to Michael that she was an SS guard, so Michael is stunned to learn of this news. As he observes the trial, Michael realizes that he possesses information about Hanna that will save her from a life in prison. However, after witnessing Hanna's testimony, Michael is certain that the information he has that could save Hanna, is information that she is too ashamed to reveal.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)

This quirky dramedy - which received much critical acclaim, and a cult following - puts a new spin on the age old tale of fated love. It also begs you to ask yourself, to what lengths would you go to forget someone, and to what lengths would you go to keep them?

Winslet stars as Clementine Kruczynski, a woman who undergoes a procedure to have all of the memories she shared with her ex-boyfriend Joel Barish (Jim Carrey) erased from her memory. After learning about what Clementine has done, Joel has the same procedure performed on himself. The film plays out as a slide show of Joel's memories of his time with Clementine. These are memories that Joel soon realizes are too precious to ever forget.

The Life of David Gale (2003)

For this dramatic role, Kate Winslet stars as Bitsey Bloom, a gutsy reporter known for her investigative journalism, and policy of protecting sources at any cost. Bloom is assigned to interview convicted rapist and murderer David Gale (Kevin Spacey) a mere three days before his execution. Unsure why she was chosen to interview Gale when he had never before made a statement about his crimes, Bloom enters into a world of conspiracy, and a race against time. Winslet's character begins to questions Gale's guilt, and tries to piece together what really happened during such an unspeakable crime.

Titanic (1997)

As the all-time highest grossing film, Titanic not only broke record books, but also broke hearts with its epic love story. Kate Winslet's portrayal of Rose DeWitt Bukater earned her an Academy Award nomination, and a permanent place in cinematic history as half of one of the most unforgettable movie couples.

Winslet's character Rose is a young girl from Philadelphia society, who boards the RMS Titanic with her mother and her fiance Cal to return to the United States, so that the couple can be married. However, Rose's engagement is more of a business deal than a loving union, since the marriage was arranged to ensure that Rose's mother can continue to live the lifestyle to which she is accustomed. However, Rose finds light at the end of the tunnel in a mysterious artist from the wrong class on the ship (Leonardo DiCaprio) who saves her, "...in every way a person can be saved."
