Many of us have problem areas when it comes to losing body fat. The most typical of these problem areas is the midsection or belly. However, what many don’t realize is that you can shed that unsightly belly fat by eating certain foods. In this article I will explain how you can achieve your goals by eating to achieve belly fat loss. By incorporating these foods and a moderate fitness routine, you will see a reduction in your midsection.

While the idea of eating to rid you of belly fat may seem contradictory, it can be done. How will eating food promote belly fat loss you ask? These foods that encourage belly fat loss all do so in different ways. I will separate the foods into categories, and explain how each category is effective in your quest for belly fat loss.

Omega-3 and monounsaturated fats- This category of foods designed to help you with belly fat loss do so by controlling hunger. Both Omega-3 and monounsaturated fats are just that, fats. These “good” fats help you with feeling fuller longer as well as increasing calorie burning potential. Foods that fall into this category include avocados, olive oil, cashews, almonds (and all other varieties of nuts) and seeds.

Lean proteins- Lean proteins when consumed in appropriate portions help increase your ability to achieve belly fat loss. Protein aids in increasing lean muscle mass, and the more muscle you have the more fat you burn. Ideal lean proteins for belly fat loss include turkey, lean chicken, salmon, and tuna. (Tuna and salmon also provide a double punch with its high Omega-3 content)

Non-fat dairy- Dairy offers high amounts of calcium which aids in burning fat, making it an optimal addition to a diet designed for belly fat loss. Suggested non fat dairy items include yogurt, milk, and cottage cheese.

Fiber and whole grains-Consuming foods high in fiber are excellent foods for belly fat loss. These foods include oatmeal, whole grain breads, beans, legumes, fruits, and dark green vegetables. Foods containing large amounts of fiber are highly effective in losing belly fat. Fiber grabs hold of food within the digestive track and whisks it away before it can be stored as fat. By incorporating fiber into your diet, you will see a noticeable amount of belly fat loss.

Green tea- While green tea is not really a food, it does offer substantial benefits as far as belly fat loss is concerned. Green tea contains EGCG which when consumed on a regular basis can assist the body in using body fat for energy. This metabolic boost has been proven to increase the body’s ability to burn calories as well as increasing belly fat loss.

These foods, when consumed regularly (and in appropriate portions) can allow you to achieve belly fat loss. These foods for belly fat loss will help your body metabolize calories as opposed to storing them as fat. Try incorporating at least one from each group per meal for optimal belly fat loss results.
