You will start teaching good personal hygiene for kids to your own children from the time they are born. As your children grow older, they will start to take on responsibility for their own good hygiene. When your children are teenagers, you probably will not need to worry at all. They might even be a little too obsessed with personal hygiene.

When your baby is born, you will be responsible for their hygiene. You will change their diapers each time they are soiled and wet. When your baby is only a few weeks old, you will give them the equivalent of a sponge bath. You will later start to bathe your baby in a bathtub. It is not necessary to bathe your baby everyday when they are not yet crawling or walking.

You will be responsible for cleaning your baby’s mouth and gums. Later you will brush their teeth as they start to appear. You will keep your baby’s hair clean and groomed. And of course, you will keep their toe and finger nails clean and trimmed. It is important to change your baby’s clothes if they have spit up or soiled their clothes in some other way.

When your child is a little older, you can teach them to brush their teeth. When a child is still 10 years of age or younger, you will want to make sure they brush their teeth each morning and at night. You will bathe your child regularly until they are old enough to do so on their own. When your child starts to be old enough to get a bath on their own, you will need to make sure they bathe on regular basis for good hygiene.

Always make sure your child is wearing clean clothes. If they are sweaty or dirty from school or play, have your child change into fresh clothes. If your child is dirty under their clothes, it will be time for a bath or shower.

As your child grows older and dresses him or herself, you will need to make certain he or she changed her undergarments and socks each day. Teach them to put dirty underwear and clothes in the hamper right away. This reduces the chance of them putting on clothes that are dirty.

Teach your child how to safely clean behind and around their ears. When your child is young, they will need you to do this for them. Show your children how to clean the back of their neck and other areas that can be difficult to clean.

Your child will learn good hygiene from the example you set. Take pride in the clothes you wear and those you wear on your children. Keep the clothes clean and wrinkle free. Take a shower daily and more often if you get dirty or sweaty throughout the day. Brush your teeth in the morning and before bed. Brush your teeth after drinks, snacks and meals whenever possible.

Keep a stock of deodorant, shampoo and soaps for your family. Keep a clean stock of towels and wash clothes. Do laundry as often as necessary to keep dirty clothes from piling up. Teach your children good hygiene by showing your family good hygiene practices.
