It can be very profitable to buy and sell guns as a gun dealer. The resale value of guns can be very high, depending on the area you live in. If you enjoy firearms and ammunition, you'll also find it to be a rewarding occupation. However, it's not easy. Before you get started, you'll need more than just a gun license. Gun dealers need to do some research and a lot of work before selling.

The process for becoming a gun dealer varies greatly from state to state. This is because each state has its own laws surrounding gun ownership and sales. Many cities also have ordinances regarding gun dealers. For this reason, your first step will be to do some research.

Start at the community level. Call your local city hall and find out what you'll need to do to legally buy, sell, and trade guns in city limits. If you're opening a store, let them know the address of the store. Very often, you'll have to also contact the chief of police in your area. Some cities require written permission from the chief of police. If permission is denied, you can take your case to court. However, if you're complying with state and federal law, this shouldn't be an issue. You will also need a business license. These are, again, obtained at city hall. Make sure that you're clear about what your business will buy, sell, or trade.

On the state level, you'll need a license. Again, research the process for your own state. You'll contact your state's firearms bureau for a dealer's license. You may have to wait for quite a while for your application to be processed. Remember, there's no guarantee that you'll be approved. You must be legally able to own and hold firearms. You must also have a fairly clean criminal record. There's usually an application fee of up to $200. This fee is not refunded if your application is denied. Make sure that you've written everything accurately on your application before submitting it. Otherwise, you could be making a costly mistake. You will also need a Federal firearm's license. Contact the Bureau of Tobacco and Firearms for instructions on obtaining this critical document.

Once all of your paperwork's in order, you're all set. In order to be successful, you should look for gun dealership clubs in your area. These are valuable places to pick up great tips. You can learn where gun shows are, and what to look for. You can also learn how to protect your business. Remember, one mistake when selling a gun can destroy your new store. Inspectors will take your license back if you don't display and sell everything properly.

Learn as much as you can before you even think of opening up your shop. If you follow the law to the letter, you should be fine. You'll find gun dealing to be very profitable and enjoyable.
